The Power of Fear

This morning, in the stillness of meditation, I sought guidance on what resonates most deeply with our collective experience right now. A message arrived through the beautiful Power of Surrender oracle deck by Judith Orloff, MD: Surrender Fear.

Undoubtedly, Spirit is keenly aware of the currents shaping our world. And a profound realization began to dawn: fear can be a tool, consciously or unconsciously, used to wield power over others. When those in authority, or those we perceive to be, instill fear within us, it can leave us feeling lost, struggling to find our footing and create positive change.

Our world pulses with technology, a force that can connect us in extraordinary ways, yet also, paradoxically, create divisions. It's a sobering thought to consider the extent to which we allow external forces to influence us through fear.

For centuries, unspoken rules, a "right way" of being, have shaped our societies. But who truly established these norms? Who holds the authority to define right and wrong? While some moral compass points are clear, when we consider the deeply personal choices of how we live, how we express our authentic selves, and what truly brings us joy, we may be met with resistance if it deviates from societal expectations. And in that space, fear takes hold – the fear of embracing our truest selves.

I've found insightful wisdom in the teachings of Rhea from Sacred Knowledge Tarot on YouTube, who beautifully describes fear as "false evidence appearing real." While she did not coin the phrase, she credits the creator and uses it frequently. Reflecting on this, its truth resonates deeply. How often do we allow external voices to plant seeds of fear within us, causing us to conceal the very essence of who we are at a soul level?

Whether it manifests through social media's subtle pressures, the rigid interpretations of belief systems, or the dynamics of our workplaces and homes, fear is pervasive. Now is the time to reclaim our inner sovereignty, to consciously stop allowing fear to dictate the course of our lives.

This burden of fear is not ours alone to bear. It has been woven into the fabric of our human experience for generations. But in the moment we choose to awaken to our power, fear loses its grip.
